French jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels found inspiration in the colorful flora, fauna, and landscape of California for its latest High Jewelry collection, California Rêverie. The 100-piece collection employs an array of vibrant-colored gemstones to portray the imagery of the West Coast including both literal translations, such as the poppy floral clip featuring a 6.52-carat pear-shaped green sapphire from Madagascar set with yellow sapphires, and the subliminal Big Sur necklace composed of nine Paraiba tourmalines suggesting the vastness of the blue water and sky.
This year’s collection was unveiled in Los Angeles in October and will be traveling internationally for the fall season. Among the standout pieces is the California sunset clip made of a massive 100-carat-plus Ethiopian opal, in shades of orange, purple, and green, which is anchored by diamond palm trees standing on a bed of blue sapphires. Prices range from about $50,000 to $1.5 million. (Van Cleef & Arpels)
