Armani Unveils Hotel in Dubai

Posted by Nellusso On April - 28 - 2010

The world’s first Armani Hotel in Dubai finally took place yesterday amid grand celebrations that included a party for 600 guests and a runway show of Armani’s spring Privé collection “The idea is that you should feel as if you are coming to my home,” said Giorgio Armani. The luxury hotel which occupies eight floors of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa boasts of 160 lavish rooms (a standard room in the hotel which does not have a single picture on its walls) will cost 4,000 dirhams ($1,089) a night, eight restaurants, a spa and three retail outlets. Besides the eight restaurants offering a variety of world cuisines, there is also an Armani Privé nightclub. The project, a joint venture between Giorgio Armani SpA and Emaar Properties, is the first in a planned collection of hotels, resorts and residences to be unveiled in key cities around the world by the partnership. Armani has paid attention o every minute detailing of this hotel right from the bed linens and bespoke furniture down to the selection of Armani Privé toiletries in the bathroom. The rooms too echo Armani’s austere style with no paintings or photographs adorning the walls. The designer spent the last five years adding luxe touches to his pet project. The walls of the hotel are covered in Marmorino silk and Florentine leather and the floors are Eramosa stone. The main entrance to the hotel features dramatic metal arches inspired by traditional Arabic architecture. The next Armani hotel will open in Milan in 2011.

Swiss maker Ulysse Nardin is preparing for the new Ulysse Nardin Chairman 2 phone. This Ulysse Nardin Chairman 2 has a touchscreen, 8MP camera and some good 32GB worth of storage. The Chairman is not the usual luxury phone you are used to see. Beneath the shiny armor lies Android-driven smartphone with all the high-end features you might expect. Besides the phone part, the Chairman has one really interesting innovation – the watch-like kinetic rotor system for passive recharging of the battery. The new Chairman extends the specs sheet with bigger 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen.
Specs sheet includes a 8 megapixel camera, a fingerprint reader for locking the thing, 32GB internal memory and HD video playback. The connectivity is also duly covered with 3G with HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB. As an alternative power source you can use the built-in kinetic rotor or the crown winding mechanism – both borrowed directly from wrist watches.

Ulysse Nardin will manufacture the new Chairman in several color variations based either on stainless steel or pink gold. Each of those will be made in a limited series of only 1846 units. The new Chairman will ship within a month. Its price will vary from $12,800 to $49,500 in the US and may be different in other countries.

Lamborghini Yacht by Mauro Lecchi

Posted by Nellusso On April - 20 - 2010

Dubbed Lamborghini yacht, the design comes from the analysis of Lamborghini car and is as exotic and luxurious as the car itself. The yacht has big intakes, and starting from the Reventon’s side view, the designer changed the intake behind the door in a huge window, to characterize the boat with a single large element. As the yacht is merely a design, it’s assumed characteristics have a Hull length 15m, Hull width4 m, and Height 3.8m. In order to reduce weight, the lamination provides to use fiber Kevlar/carbon.  Also, in order to combine high performance and low power consumption, three different motors are assumed for the yacht: 2×700 hp Volvo Penta IPS 900 diesel, 2×950 hp diesel Seatek, 2x (3x) 550 hp v 12 – 60 ° Lamborghini petrol. Deisgned by Mauro Lecchi, although just a concept, this yacht with its sleek designs and hi-tech features is a dream machine for all Lambo fans.

Mullin Automotive Museum celebrates grand opening in style

Posted by Nellusso On April - 19 - 2010

The Mullin Automotive Museum celebrated its grand opening this last week with a black tie event for media and distinguished guests. Of course, museum founder Peter Mullin will tell you that his new museum isn’t just about cars. The 50,000 square foot facility, located in Oxnard, CA, was built as a homage to the art deco period, and plenty of historic artwork and furniture can be found throughout the building.
For the big night, Bugatti loaned the museum a collection of some of its concept cars such as the Veyron 16.4., the 1998 EB118 Concept, the 1999 EB218 Concept and the 1999 18.3 Chiron Concept. The entrance was adorned with aEB110 SS and a Grand Sport. More than 100 automobiles with French origin from makers like Bugatti, Delahaye, Delage, Hispano-Suiza, Talbot-Lago and Voison are on display at the museum. You can also find collections like the legendary Schlumpf Reserve Collection and mimics of the Le Mans pre-WWII cars as well.
