Toshiba’s concept-turned-commercial Libretto W100 is now on sale in the US. $1,099.9 Toshiba’s dual-screen Windows 7 tablet buys you a Pentium U5400 processor, Windows 7 Home Premium (32-bit), integrated Intel HD graphics, a memory card reader, 2GB of DDR3 memory, a 62GB solid state drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, an inbuilt webcam and an 8-cell battery. Bang & Olufsen announces 40-inch BeoVision 8 LCD

You want a Bang & Olufsen LCD that fit your budget. Well they’re announcing the launch of the BeoVision 8 this summer a bit smaller and less expensive than the BeoVision 10. The 40-inches boasts 240Hz motion processing, resulting in a picture refresh rate that B&O say is nearly double conventional LCDs. Unlike the earlier claim, of around $3,500, the cost is now  in the neighborhood of $5,400.

Vertu Makes Four $215K Golden Phones For Japan

To celebrate one year of existence for its flagship store in Ginza, Tokyo, Nokia’s Vertu is launching a new limited edition Vertu phone in Japan. The limited edtinion handset is available in four versions (Vertu Kinko, Vertu Kikusui, Vertu Nanten and Vertu Daigo) representing the four seasons. Each model has been hand-painted and dressed in gold, and while the textures on them look good, the overall aspect of the phones isn’t quite attractive. Reportedly, there will only be four units of the new Vertu phone made, each costing 20 million yen (about $215,800).

Celsius X-VI-II: A $300,000 mechanical cell phone

Celsius X-VI-II, a unique mechanical cell phone from a French company has created a lot of excitement. The phone is made with 547 mechanical parts, and it features a tourbillon in its hinge. The unique combination uses a patented Remontage Papillon mechanism that mimics butterfly movement, and is activated when the wings are unfolded. The phone will operate solely through human energy and is touted as an entirely mechanical cellphone. This luxurious watch-phone will be priced at approx. $275,000 and will make its debut at the upcoming Basel World watch fair in Switzerland, which reminds us of the launch of the Ulysse Nardin luxury hybrid smart phone, which made waves for being the world’s first horologically inspired phone that is charged both by electricity and by the kinetic energy of a working rotor. The prices for Ulysse Nardin’s mechanical phones start at around $10,000 and go as high as $70,000 for the all-gold versions.
